Diamond Feature Story
In this class students were learning to create all the different parts of a magazine publication, the final part of which was designing a feature story spread. Students must choose a theme and create pages which include text as well as visual elements. At least one element has to be included that does not conform to the text columns or baseline such as charts, pull quotes or timelines.
This feature story was created focusing on lab grown diamonds. The title is a reference to the time it takes for diamonds to form as well as the fact it has taken a long time to learn how to artificially make them. I researched the process in which diamonds are made to give the reader a basic concept of how they are made. I decided to make the bulk of the article about the lesser environmental impact creating diamonds in a lab has compared to mining diamonds.
