Artist’s Apartment

Artist’s Apartment
Students had to create a fully rendered room in Autodesk Maya. The kind of room as well as the contents within are up to the discretion of the student. All object geometry must be original.
Since I was able to make any type of room for this project, I chose to create a studio apartment that an artist lives in. As such I divided the room into different areas to sleep, eat, and work. I wanted the room to have elements of environmental storytelling, so several aspects were added to unite the room.
The apartment has two tables, one for eating at and one for making art, however the occupant only has a single swivel chair, so the floors have scuff marks from the chair sliding across the floor. In addition, on the counter next to the oven there is a large tin of coffee and on the work desk there are mugs of brown liquid. One mug is labeled “Paint” and the other “Not Paint” to imply the occupant has a habit of drinking from the wrong mug during a late-night painting session.
